Career pathway
In 2007 I moved from Microsoft Redmond product development roles to Microsot UK where I am currently a UX Senior consultant working with the NHS (National Health Service) on the project to develop design guidelines that produce the experience of a Common User Interface (CUI) within the NHS.
In 2000 I moved to Microsoft Redmond where I spent the next 7 years helping product development teams enhance consumers’ communications experiences (Hotmail, MSN Messenger, Windows) then mobile knowledge workers (Windows, Office Live Meeting). My millennium ended with a applied research and development Defence research projects on topics ranging from the development of supporting internet communities to battleship command control and communications system evaluations.
My 1990′s started with my studying designers’ remote communication and cooperation at Loughborough University. I took my design, theatre and cooperation experience to the specific application area of learning software development and evaluation as a Senior HCI Researcher and evaluation specialist for Digital Equipment Corporation based at Heriot-Watt University Institute of Computer Based Learning that built on my experience with learning theory and practice during a 5 years position as a Senior Psychology Lecturer in the Portsmouth University Psychology Department.
During the late 1980′s my education included a BSc in Human Psychology from the University of Aston then to Loughbrorough for a PhD applying psychological theory of human memory to the design file-finding systems, searches.
